About Us

KumoTek is a robotics design and manufacturing company located just outside of Dallas in Richardson, Texas. The company was founded in the spring of 2004 by robotics industry spokesman, Matthew Fisher, and has continued to grow as a recognized authority in emerging robotics technologies and interactive entertainment. The word Kumo means "spider" in Japanese.

Our Divisions

KumoTek has 2 divisions that manage day to day operations and have proven vital to the company's sustained market growth and success. They are the Consumer Robotics Group and the Service Robotics Group.

Consumer Robotics Group

Consumer Robotics Group works closely with leading robotics equipment manufacturers in Asia to develop high-end robot kits for both hobby, and educational markets. They manage OEM projects with our domestic an international partner companies, including the high-profile co-development project with Vstone Corp. of Japan to build the KT-X Bipedal Robot Kit.

This group has landed a wide range of prestigious customers for KumoTek, including Intel, the U.S. Naval Academy, MIT and Dartmouth, and even designs and builds interactive museum robots, such as ARTI, which is now a permanent exhibit at the Intel Museum in Santa Clara, California.

KumoTek Robotics

Our products include rugged tracked robots with or without manipulator (arms) for disaster area recovery, police, fire and rescue operations. Our robots save lives by removing the human element from potentially dangerous situations. Our talent doesn't stop there, however. KumoTek is a leading manufacturer and design house for robots used in classroom education and interactive entertainment, such as our KT-X Bipedal Robot and Conversational Interactive Museum Robot, ARTI.

Our most recent development, the MK-705 Roosterbot, integrates 4 heavy duty flippers, a powerful twin-belt drive train, dual video cameras, and a 360 duty manipulator. This robot is capable of climbing small to medium sized obstacles and can carry a modest payload over hazardous terrain, all while sending real time video feed to the operator control unit. As a compact and light weight alternative to similar robots currently in the field, the MK-705 fits into a customized military rucksack and can be deployed within seconds of initialization.

We have earned a stellar reputation in the industry for designing, developing and bringing unique and practical robotic applications to market, so whether it's building interactive entertainment robots, like ARTI the Intel Museum robotics mascot, or delivering state-of-the-art service robots to our troops in Iraq, KumoTek is committed to building top of the line robotics applications.

Matthew Fisher is the Founder and CTO of KumoTek Robotics, a Richardson, Texas based robotics company whose clients include the U.S. Naval Academy, MIT, Dartmouth, and the U.S. Army. Matthew has helped to grow the KumoTek vision from being a small robot import and distribution company, to a multi-national design and manufacturing organization for both educational and service sector robots.

An 11 year military veteran, he states that his goal is to entertain the public with our fun and educational robot solutions, while saving the lives of the men and women who are out defending our freedom. Matthew is fluent in Japanese and has consulted for several US and Japanese organizations, including the Japan External Trade Organization, The City of Osaka, and the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond, Virginia.

KumoTek operates through several domestic and international distributors, including the company's online subsidiary, www.roboporium.com.
